CENTURY OF SERVICE SERIES
DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS’ AFFAIRS and AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL
This series of educational publications for primary aged students is based on the 15 stained-glass windows in the Hall of Memory at the Australian War Memorial. Each window portrays a service person and a value upheld by Australians during war and Peacekeeping. Comradeship, Audacity, Devotion and others tell of individuals’ stories and provide a rich resource for teachers to engage learners.
Each publication was distributed, when it was produced, to every Australian primary school and to date the series has received four Notable Book Awards and two Honour Book Awards by the Children’s Book Council of Australia.
